The Cockwhisperer - A Love Story is the story of "one woman's quest to find the love and the penis of her dreams". Collette Kendal is a Canadian Stand-up comic and author/performer of several solo productions. She is a natural story-teller and talented performer. She had the audience in the palm of her hand from the opening lines to the close of the show last night. The Cockwhisperer is not for the faint of language as Collette does not hold back in her description of the coming of sexual age of a young teenage girl and her subsequent life as a woman capable of looking after her own physical desires. The show is just 90 minutes and moves along without any lapses in energy. There is no costuming and lighting, sound and props are minimal. It is Collette on stage alone for the whole show. The audience seemed to love the show . I enjoyed it too. The Cockwhisperer - A Love Story is playing at the False Creek Gym 6 - 16 September as part of the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival. ~ reviewed by Evelyn McKelvie Click "read more" for the full video transcript.Welcome Theatre Addicts, I'm Evelyn McKelvie and I'm down here at the False Creek gym on Granville Island to review The Cock Whisperer: A Love Story for the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival. The Cock Whisperer was written by Colette Kendall, a Canadian playwright from Hamilton. It's listed as dark and humorous. So I'm looking forward to seeing it and I will tell you more about it later.
The show has just finished; it was just under an hour long. A one woman show, it wasn't quite what I expected but it was dark, it was humorous. It was, I guess, autobiographical. In fact, Colette says these are true stories that she made up herself. So I presume that these are vignettes from her life. What can I say? If you are offended by sexually explicit language and sexually explicit stories, then you probably shouldn't come to this. But if you're fine with that, and you've got a good sense of humour then I think you'll enjoy this play. It's very minimal production. Lights, bit of sound and some slides. The venue seats about 150 people and it was pretty full tonight. I think most people seemed to enjoy it; there was a lot of guffawing and laughing in the audience. And what else? What else? That's about it. My name's Evelyn McKelvie. I've been reviewing The Cock Whisperer: A Love Story by Colette Kendall from Hamilton, Ontario, and the show was on at False Creek gym. I encourage you to enter comments below, check out the website, check out the Theatre Addicts YouTube channel and please give us feedback. We'd love to hear from you and I hope you enjoy the Fringe.
